Let’s Stress Practicing in English Learning

Many language learners are having big problem with speaking even though they have already learnt English since elementary school to college. Too much learning English by something read such as student work sheets (LKS), packet books, and so on makes English learners are difficult to apply what they have known. Okay, most of them are likely to be good at grammar but if they are ordered to speak directly and spontaneously the problem will appear. They can’t speak well. By giving plenty of practice especially in speaking English will be able to train students speaking better.
Peeping at a part of what has been said by Stephan Krashen in his theory stating “Language Acquisition doesn’t require extensive use of conscious grammatical rules and doesn’t require tedious drill”. It as if implied that the studying of grammar is not too urgent and learning language has to be fun. Moreover, taking the conclusion of the theory it will be found that all is about habit. When being accustomed to speak English for course tedious drill is not needed any longer. Although in the fact that English in Indonesia is not second language and it’ll be a little bit hard to accustom English learners to speak English, but the suitable and fun method of practice used by teacher will make English learners are enthusiastic to speak English. The suitable and fun method is the key. It can be games, interesting stories and songs.
Considering the main use of English is to communicate. Practicing most of the time using English is one of the best methods applied. By only listening to the lesson conveyed by teacher, English learners gradually will get bored. Practice not only reduces the boredom of English learners who are full of theories in their mind but it also makes students know how to use it.
It’s much enough for the English grammar and reading given by teachers through their complicated elaborating. This is the time to practice what has been learnt. Let’s practice English.
